November 26 | Thanksgiving Box Distribution
Would you like to help bless some neighbors with a box of food for a Thanksgiving meal? We will distribute boxes on Tuesday, November 26th. You can sign up to help give them away from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to contribute by donating any of the following: boxed stuffing, cans of green beans, corn, and cranberry sauce, jars of gravy, bags of potatoes and onion, and cake mix and icing. You can sign up to volunteer here and please bring any donated items to the foyer on a Sunday in November.
Order Your Christmas Poinsettias
You can now order a poinsettia in memory of or in honor of a loved one to be placed in the sanctuary for Christmas. Poinsettias costs $10 each. Place your orders here by December 1. Poinsettias can be picked up on Christmas Eve after the 5:30 p.m. candlelight service. All leftover flowers will be donated to local nursing homes and assisted living centers.
December 1 – December 29 | Hope on the Horizon
The season of Advent is a time of expectant hope. The true meaning of Advent is not to count the days until a commercial celebration of Christmas, rather, it is to celebrate the 1st coming of Jesus so that we can fully lean into preparing for his second coming. Jesus wants us to live as people ready for him to return at any moment. He wants us to be ready for his return by walking in his ways where we live, work, and play. Worship with us each Sunday in December as we live into the expectant hope together.
December 7 | Scottish Walk
The annual Scottish Walk will be right in our backyard on Saturday, December 7th. We will again open our doors to the community to offer warm beverages, restrooms, and hospitality. This is an ideal way to welcome friends to our facility for the first time while they’re out enjoying the Scottish Walk. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Volunteers are needed from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to help direct and welcome people inside. Sign up to volunteer here.
December 8 | Senior Christmas Lunch
Senior adults are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall immediately following worship on Sunday, December 8th.
December 15 | Christmas Caroling
We’ll go Christmas caroling throughout Old Town starting at 6:00 along with our friends of the Church of South Washington (Beulah Baptist, Roberts Memorial UMC, and Washington Street UMC). Bring a friend and join us in spreading the joy of the season.
December 24 | Christmas Eve
We will have a candlelight evening worship at 5:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
December 25 | Open Table Christmas
Everyone is welcome to join us in the Fellowship Hall on Christmas morning from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. for our regular Wednesday morning Open Table breakfast. Celebrate Christmas by giving back and starting the day alongside friends and neighbors. Come for all or part of the time and as early as 5:30 a.m. if you want to volunteer.
