June 23rd – Godly Play Training

In preparation for our Godly Play launch in September 2018, join us for our 1-day orientation and training where you will learn the ins and outs of Godly Play and how to successfully co-teach a class. All are welcome  even if this will be your first time volunteering with the Children’s Ministry. Learn to carefully tell scripture stories, use engaging story figures and invite kids to extend their learning through a variety of creative activities. The training is Saturday, June 23, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School (400 Fontaine St., Alexandria, VA 22302). Lunch and snacks will be provided. RSVP here.

June 24th – Bible & Burgers

Where else can you take a guided tour of the Bible while enjoying a burger? All are invited for Bible and Burgers, where we pair a classic cookout lunch with our 2018 “Living Bible Museum” presented by Downtown Kids. Come explore the Bible through a child’s eyes while enjoying great food after our 11AM worship service on Sunday, June 24th. The church will provide burgers, dogs and drinks. June 29th – We <3 ALX: Summer Nights

Invite your neighbors and friends and join us for an evening out in Alexandria at Jones Point Park from 6PM-8PM on Friday, June 29th. We’ll welcome anyone and everyone to join us for an evening of fun, food, and fellowship. We love Alexandria, so let’s get out in the city to love and connect with our neighbors. Bring some food to share and sign up here if you plan on coming!

July 20th-22nd – “Better Together” Family Weekend

This may quite possibly be the best weekend of your family’s summer! Enjoy a weekend away, spending quality time with loved ones and new friends in Cross Junction, VA, July 20-22, 2018. We’ll have time to strengthen our faith through worship and breakout groups as we consider what it means to be family on mission. We will also enjoy each other’s company while hiking, playing memorable games, and rediscovering relaxation. The cost for the weekend, which includes lodging and meals is: $70 per family member 14 years old and up, $20 per family member 4-13 years old, and free for children under 3. Lodging options include camping under the stars (bring your own tent) or staying in the lodge. Reserve your family’s spot with just a $50 deposit. Full payment is due by July 1. July 29th – Steeple 2 Street: Praying for ALX

Join us for lunch together after worship on Sunday, July 29th. After a shared meal, we will disperse throughout Alexandria in groups to pray for specifics areas of the city. The lunch and time of prayer will last from 12:15PM-2PM. If you plan on joining us, please sign up here.

August – Game On! Pop-Up Camp

Gear up for life’s big game! This summer Downtown Baptist Church is taking VBS to the community and “popping up” around Alexandria, giving families the chance to grab their megaphones, lace up their cleats, and tune up their instruments. Join us for a few hours of fun that will include an exciting Bible lesson, energizing games, a keepsake craft, and awesome music as we learn from the ultimate playbook. Parents must stay with kids 5 and under.
